Since its just after Merdeka (Independence) day for Malaysia, thought I'd put this in. The stylised malaysian characters was actually used for a book cover design. They're there to represent the many different cultures we have in Malaysia. There are many more races I should have put in there, just that time wasn't on my side.
oh this is really great! Fantastic idea! I love the 8th face the most (the most right in the second row from
the top), wonder what kind of race is that. It's really cute and i'm gonna fav that one. Keep them coming Bem!

Yeah I was weary of that. But they are actually several different races in Malaysia, so I don't think I'm offending anyone. Thanks for the comment though.

"I was weary of that." that's interesting...i mean, i assume that was a typo, but the whole racial awareness thing is wearying...
anyway, we have the same multiculturalisism here in australia, but I'm wary of depicting racial steriotypes...and having people explode on me...anyway, tsbeen a pleasure!
"..multiculturalisism.." that's interesting, and yes I assume that was a typo. I know how it is in Australia, I studied and graduated in Brisbane, and I loved it there. What I'm portraying on my artwork is the traditional costumes of the different races. Anyway, I couldn't possibly explain to you what Malaysia is about. You could do some research about Malaysia's different races (much much more than multiculturalism in Australia, I can assure that) or you should come visit Malaysia someday.
About that weary thing, yeah it was a typo, I wanted to type wary but typed weary instead, since I was in a hurry. About your comment: "the whole racial awareness thing is wearying", I would say so myself, as I wasn't even trying to stereotype races, but focusing on the multiculturalism. I appreciate your awareness of racial "steriotypes" and I know you meant well. Nothing wrong with that.
But this is my piece for Malaysia, and yesterday was our 49th independence day and I'm proud to be one of the racial stereotypes (as how you perceived it as) of Malaysia. ..and well, you just killed my patriotic mood and pissed me off. So yes, it has been a pleasure.
